Craven Arms
Craven Arms is situated on the A49 10 miles north of Ludlow. We lived there for a short time and loved the place to the extent that we return almost every year as tourists after leaving the town in 1967!
It is small town servicing the surrounding hillside hamlets but it owes its prosperity to its railway junction and more recently to McCartney's sheep sales. These too have dwindled and the town now depends upon agricultural services and tourism for its being.

We are looking forward to seeing its new Discovery Centre this year - it is getting rave reviews. Nearby Stokesay Castle, a fortified manor house is an essential visit whilst there.
The surrounding countryside is exquisite and makes Craven Arms an ideal base for touring the area, and for driving over to mid Wales.
There are two small hotels and several B and B's available for visitors.
Places local to Craven Arms which we recommend for a visit include:
Church Stretton Bishops Castle Clun
